From 20 to 22 October, the international summit 4SICS about cyber security in SCADA and Industrial Control Systems, was organized in Stockholm, Sweden. The most important ICS/SCADA cyber security stakeholders from the critical infrastructure gathered for this annual conference, with many renowned international speakers. Hudson Cybertec, solution provider for cybersecurity in the Operational Technology (OT), contributed to the success of 4SICS, with a presentation, as well as a pre-conference training.
In advance of the conference, Hudson Cybertec in cooperation with ISA Netherlands Section, held a 1-day introduction training about the ISA/IEC 62443 cyber security standard for ICS. An international group of participants got a first acquaintance with the industry standard and worked on various cases, using the ISA/IEC 62443 as the primary tool. For the majority of the participants, the introduction was a true eye-opener and a very positive first experience with this standard.
During the conference, the presentation “Is your plant ready to crash” gave a unique perspective on cybersecurity in the Operational Technology domain of companies. There was ample attention for the instrumentation layer and how it increasingly becomes a serious threat for the stability and continuity of these environments. Participants got handles on how to properly deal with this challenge and how the ISA/IEC 62443 cyber security standard will help.
In a live survey, the presentation was highly valued by the participants in the areas of prevention of cyber security incidents and organizational awareness. With that, both the 4SICS organization and Hudson Cybertec look back at a very successful summit.
