The Johan Sverdrup oilfield is one of the largest Norwegian oilfields and the largest offshore oil find in the North Sea in 30 years. When fully developed, the giant field is expected to produce 550-650 thousands of barrels of oil equivalents per day. The exploitation of the field is considered to be one of the most important industrial projects in Norway over the next 50 years. The initial investment for the first phase of development is estimated approximately € 13,5 billion. The Johan Sverdrup field center is expected to be in operation by the end of 2019 and the estimated field lifetime is 50 years. The field center will be located on the Utsira High in the North Sea, 155 kilometers west of Stavanger, with a water depth of 110 – 120 meters.
Statoil is the operator of the installation. In the first phase of development, the field center will consist of four platforms. Each of the platforms will have its own function. There will be a drilling platform, production platform, riser platform and a platform with living quarters. The platforms will be developed by contractors Aker Solutions, Kværner/KBR and Aibel. Aker Solutions, global provider of products, systems and services to the oil and gas industry, is headquartered in Oslo, Norway, and oversees the engineering of the field center. They will also perform engineering and procurement for the production and riser platform, which will be constructed by Samsung Heavy Industries.
Hudson Cybertec, global security solution provider for the Operational Technology (OT), has been selected by Aker Solutions to perform a Risk and Vulnerability Assessment on the design of the ICT infrastructure for the complete Johan Sverdrup field center development, including all technical systems of the complete field center and its onshore and offshore connections. The Risk and Vulnerability assessment will cover the technical ICT equipment and technical installations that are part of the Field Engineering for all four platforms. It encompasses all technical networks of the field center platforms, from networks and systems involved in the drilling, production and transportation, to safety systems and connections to the platforms.
