From April 12 to 14 the Emerson Global Users Exchange was organized in Brussels. This annual Emerson conference, organized for its customers, brings together professionals from the industry. There were more than a 100 presentations given to a broad international audience of well over a thousand end users, alliance partners, suppliers and Emerson professionals.
Hudson Cybertec gave a presentation on cyber security of Industrial Automation & Control Systems (IACS), the Operational Technology of organizations. The presentation “Are you ready to crash your plant?” addressed the lack of security awareness in many companies. Because of this, they don´t know what security risks arise from not securing the instrumentation layer, or not defining responsibilities for cyber security. Hudson Cybertec warned the participants that is it essential to protect the instrumentation layer and to integrate cyber security in all layers of the organization, as well as with suppliers. The presentation was well received by the audience..
The audience were given handles on how cyber security van be managed throughout the OT organization, using the IEC 62443 standard. The IEC 62443 Competence Center of Hudson Cybertec has a broad knowledge of, and experience with this security standard and advises companies in managing the security for their IACS infrastructure.
