Last week, from April 3th to April 6th, Finspång, Sweden was the scene of an extensive training for the internationally renowned cyber security standard IEC 62443. The Swedish branch of Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery AB received several days of training on this standard. The training was given by cyber security solution provider Hudson Cybertec, internationally recognized as subject matter expert for the IEC 62443.
Introduction to the IEC 62443
During the first day of the training, a large part of the employees of the service & maintenance, automation, internal IT and project departments, received an extensive introduction in the IEC 62443. The session elaborated on the importance of the IEC 62443 for the organization as well as what the standard can bring Siemens, being a supplier to companies in the critical infrastructure.
Furthermore, several parts of the standard were highlighted and attention was given to the differences between the IT and OT domain. After the session, the almost 60 participants were very enthusiastic about the possibilities that the IEC 62443 standard offers them.
Extensive training
The other 3 days, an international audience, with participants from Sweden, Finland and Denmark, took part in an extensive training about the IEC 62443 standard. During these days topics were covered in-depth and there were practical exercises, built on several cases.
With the training, the participants from the various business establishments of Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery AB laid down a solid base for managing cyber security within their companies. The organization makes a flying start in increasing the levels of cyber security.
Positive experience
The overall event was received very positive by the participants. Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery AB and Hudson Cybertec look back at a very successful and fruitful week. After the event, Siemens expressed that the organization gets a lot of added value from the received training program. The organization will continue gaining experience with the IEC 62443.
